PLEXIGLAS® is the brand name for the original acrylic sheet, invented in 1933 by Dr Otto Röhm. With a remarkable pioneering spirit, a passion for innovation, and decades of experience, the original material, which was a transparent sheet, has now evolved into an entire product family with different colours and textures.

PLEXIGLAS® weighs half as much as glass and is up to 17 times more impact resistant. With a light transmission at 92%, PLEXIGLAS® is clearer than glass and will not yellow, even after prolonged exposure to harsh African sunlight. (This applies to clear grades)

 

PLEXIGLAS® has excellent outdoor and UV weathering resistance, is easy to thermoform, fabricate, machine and glue. Conventional tooling can be used for almost all processing techniques when using PLEXIGLAS®.
